You may not be aware, but Utah has a new Cidery. Second Summit Cider is open and running and Beer Nerd Radio is lucky enough to have them in studio today, to get the lowdown on their new Main Street location. We get it rolling today at 2pm on 99.9fm KUAA.

Epic - Double Cross: This Double Amber Ale has a semi-cloudy, dark caramel/orange look. Heady, candied, caramelized, medium dark roasted malt, toffee, mixed spicy aromas. taste is rich, a touch sweet, light caramel, toffee, lots medium dark caramelized malt, for the taste. Finishes very well, toffee, some dark caramel malt, some copper as well. Please let this warm up a bit. 9.0% - Available at Epic starting today.

TF/RoadHouse - Superdelic Kush: This collaboration between TF and Roadhouse Brewing starts with orange-peach-fruit cocktail with, orange creamsicle overtones. Excellent intensity and depth. Grapefruit zest stands out. in the mouth grapefruit in 3D right up front, humming through the finish; heavily floral, lightly doughy, pungently perfumy resins and sediment layering the palate, heightened by spicy hop and booze character... spicy pine amplifies less than halfway through the glass, sharp grassy bitterness prickling as well. Quite delicious. 6.8% - Available at TF starting today.

Grid City - IPA #3Pours a clear orange amber colour with slightly tawny coloured head that replenishes nicely with a little swirl. Nose is at once hoppy with citrus rind, tangerine, a touch of tropical fruit and floral aroma , but solidly malty with a subtle caramel note. Taste is a barrage of hops - piney, citrus, orange, pineapple and marmalade with a bitterness that is tamed by the sweet toasted malt with hints of caramel and honeysuckle. 7.5% - Available at Grid City.

RoHa - Bluebird American WheatSlightly stronger than moderate aromas of wheat malts with a light amount of grainy sweetness. Light aromas of citrus/lemon zest and herbal hops. Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of wheat malts with a light amount of grainy sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of citrus/lemon zest and herbal hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades away leaving a slightly lingering wheat malt/herbal hop flavor. 5.0% - Available at RoHa now.

Salt Lake Brewing - It Was Always The Citra: They sure didn't skimp on the Citra in this session IPA. It's a textbook citra showcase; aroma is orange marmalade, grapefruit zest, juicy tangerine and a hint of grass. Taste gives juicy tangerine and pulpy & zesty grapefruit, slightly grassy and just a hint of malty sweetness on the finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation, foamy mouthfeel turns into a creamy finish, high drinkability. 5.0% - only at SL Brewing.

New Beer Friday 6/16/23

It's another Beer Fest Weekend with Brewstillery happening Saturday afternoon from 2pm - 7pm. Not only will you find beer, look for cider, spirits, canned cocktails and and made cocktails. Need info? it's all right here. https://www.24tix.com/event/1808713151/brewstillery

Beer Nerd Radio welcomes Patrick Borque from Offset Bier this afternoon. If Offset hasn't been on your radar, you're really missing some special beers. You'll defiantly want to tune-in for this show. That's at 2pm today on KUAA 99.9fm.

Epic - We Can Brew It Ale: This is Epic's entry into the 2023 Pink Boots Beer realm.  A portion of proceeds are donated to Pink Boots to support women in the brewing industry. It's almost barleywine-like in its sweetness, with hints of apple and pear combining with the caramel malt. This is a short-lived flavor however as the hops take over and make for a flavorfully bitter beer. The bitterness is certainly not over the top and I'm finding that the sweetness up front does a pretty good job of balancing this beer out. It has plenty of herbal and citrusy hops to make for this interesting combination. 8.0% - Available at Epic starting today.

Hopkins - Guava Goddess: This Pink Boots Society brew features locally grown and malted Solstice Malt Pilsner and Wheat malts, fresh guava puree, and the Pink Boots Hop Blend. Every year the Pink Boots Society chooses a fresh new hop blend; this year’s blend features Loral, Azacca, El Dorado and Idaho Gem. The guava and dry-hop meld nicely for this “juicy IPA” style. A portion of proceeds are donated to Pink Boots to support women in the brewing industry.

Salt lake Brewing - Valley Girl: Pours a very nice cloudy dark golden yellow color. The nose is hoppy, slight malt, very nice citrus, with some pineyness. The taste is hoppy, slight malt, very nice citrus, with some nice pine notes, picking up some tangerine. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, with a really nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a very tasty brew. 5.0% - Only at SL Brewing.

Salt lake Brewing - European Vacation: Inspired by Head Brewer Jason Stocks trip to the Czech Republic. This Czech-style pilsner has a mild aroma with lemon, honey and grass. The taste is lightly sweet malt with earthy, slight lemon hops and slight bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium to thin bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. 5.0% - Only at SL Brewing.

RoHa - Keep Being So Extra: This Extra Pale Ale is RoHa's 2023 Pride Month beer. It pours a nice medium thick head, off white, lacing white. Malty, buttery, and faintly floral aroma. The flavor is malty, biscuity, and citrusy. With a decent mouthfeel, nice carbonation, a lingering dry finish, and a faint sweet malt flavor, Overall, it has a balanced taste of bitterness and sweetness and is crisp, lingering stickiness, and very refreshing. 5.0% - Only at RoHa.

Bewilder - Handle Daddy: This NEIPA was brewed exclusively to celebrate Handle Bar's 5th Anniversary. It's full of strong bitter, resinous hops. A little bready malt but mostly bitterness. 6.3% - Only available at Handle Bar in SLC.

Mason - Can't Resist The Oats: A hazy dark orange color with creamy lacing. Citrus and peach are the major players on the nose followed with mango, and guava. Juicy citrus, mango, guava, peach, some peppery spice, spicy citrus fruit rind, some underlying lime. Eventually the citrus resin starts to build on the palate with some nice lingering intensity. Thick with a soft silky texture and dry on the back of the tongue. 10.5% - Found at Beerhive

Equilibrium - Neutrino: This pale ale has a base of 2-row and white wheat with Citra in the whirlpool, along with  a Strata, Citra, and Galaxy dry hop. Look for aromas of fresh-cut tropical fruit, orange,

passionfruit sorbet, pineapples, and passionfruit/lime gummies. 4.5% - Found at Slackwater.
