Dark beers and pale ales seem to rules in this week's New Beer Friday. Krampus would absolutely approve! Speaking of Krampus: We're just hours past Krampus Day, also known as Krampusnacht. Beer Nerd Radio today welcomes the punisher of bad children, along with GSL's Angie Keeton and Saltfire's Ryan Miller for our holiday beer events show. Honestly, I have no idea of what to expect; which should make some interest radio. Hit us up at 2pm on 99.9FM KUAA, or stream us at KUAAFM.org.
Bewilder - Lord of the Ryes: This rye stout actually came out last week, but I dropped the ball. Roasty with some spiced coffee aroma. Oh man that’s smoove! Creamy cocoa, with that Rye! Oh god, that rye! It adds that spicy malt character that’s got that melange thing going on. You’d almost think it was spiced. Finishes easy with a hint of chinook and char. 6.66% - Available at Bewilder.
RoHa - Bourbon Barrel Aged Red Ale: A lightly malty base combines with toasty oak to create a nice vanilla profile. Hints of whiskey comes next with some bright orange zest rounding it out. Nice oaky/whiskey session beer. 5.0% - Available at RoHa.
Saltfire - Huckleberry Blonde Ale: Straight-up classic American-style blonde ale with that easy going malt profile. Huckleberry is noticeable, but not overpowering which allows both malt and berry to shine. 5.0% - Available on draft at SaltFire.
Shades - Cravens Perch Porter: Very dark, deep chestnut brown appearance, which is also opaque. Easy, toasted grain and wood aroma with a hint of caramel and toffee, for the aroma. Moderate level of darkly roasted grain which lingers quite nicely, for the taste. Medium light body. 5.0% - Available at both Shades locations.
Uinta - Sour Stout: Found on Uinta's R&D handle. This ale has a roasty aroma, some dark cocoa too. That’s where the normal stout ends. First swig is full on lactic tartness - a big ass lemony blast. From there the roastiness kicks in. For the most part it’s a fight to the death between the tart and char flavors. 5.0% - Only at Uinta.
Uinta - Tayle's Pale Ale: Looks like a classic pale ale, plenty of amber hues. Very light aroma, not much there. Toasty caramel with a floral & piney hop profile very old school, almost like an English style pale. Drinks really well, with a light/medium bitter finish. 5.0% - Only at Uinta.
Salt Lake Brewing - Pond Crosser: This Euro malt pale ale combines with American hops (Strata and CTZ). Light toasty malt, not too sweet. Hops pop with tangerine & some herbal/earthy hops. Overall the name fits🇬🇧🍺🇺🇸. 5.0% - Available at SL Brewing.
Salt Lake Brewing - Funky Cold Adeena: This SMaSH lager features Weyerman BoHo Pils malt and Adeena hops. Really tasty, kinda like German Pils & a Czech Pils had love child… errr … beer. Nice sweet/ toasty malt profile. The Adeena adds all the Nobel hop flavors you crave with a hint of zest. Great lager. 5.0% - Available at SL Brewing.
Hop Butcher For The World - Little Pizza Table: Missed this Citra, Simcoe & Nelson Sauvin-hopped India Pale Ale 6.5% - Found at Slackwater.

Brewery Ommegang - Everything Nice: Lightly dusted with spices of the season, Everything Nice is a warming, wintry Belgian-style blonde ale. This supremely cozy confection pairs perfectly with any traditional holiday treat. Note the flavors of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and white pepper as you sip next to the fireplace. We hope this fresh-baked offering brings warmth and light to you and yours. 9.0% - Found at Slackwater.
Brewery Ommegang - Everything Naughty: an imperial blonde stout; Everything Naughty. A stout that confuses the eyes and tantalizes the taste buds. Anticipate notes of roasted coffee and white chocolate complete with a brilliant golden hue. This rich stout is smooth and velvety with classic stout flavors. 9.5% - Found at Slackwater.
