Level Crossing - VII XXV XVII Wheatwine Ale: The color is a hazy orange-amber with a one-finger milk-white head and thick lacing. It has a nice aroma of malt, butterscotch and dry, dark fruit. It tastes of malt, caramel, and raisin or fig. It starts out with the sweetness typical of a barley wine but the sweetness gives way to a hoppy bitterness and a strong alcohol burn at the finish. In fact, it seemed more hoppy and bitter as it warmed in the glass. It is a medium-bodied, somewhat syrupy ale and the 10.5% ABV is very noticeable. Overall, I enjoyed this wheat wine and would drink it again.
Bewilder - Nouveaux Houblons: For the French impaired "New Hops" is a Franco/Belgian IPA with an all Belgian grain bill, Belgian yeast, and a slew of new French hops, including: Barbe Rouge, Mistral, and Triskel!. I don't know these hops, but they are pretty interesting. There's combo of herbal, berry and citrus. The yeast drives this IPA with bubblegum and clove. This is a textbook Belgo-IPA. 7.3% - On sale today at Bewilder.
RoHa - SubLemon: This lemon influenced ale is quite malty and toasty with subtle lemon flavor. The tartness is is light and pleasant but it's all quite busy with the contrasting malt tastiness.
2 Row - Hottest One Yet: Missed this new Mango Habanero Lager. Sounds tasty! 6.7% - Available today at 2 Row.
Revision - Hi Juno: Pours a lovely bright straw yellow in color. Haze is evident but isn't a mud bomb. The aroma is really good. Smells like Citra.Tangerine and papaya doing the rounds. Mosaic adds some humid dank notes to the tropical and sweet citrus ones. Taste is classic citrus - grapefruit, orange and lemon. Flavors of mango, papaya, pineapple and apricot also present. Finish is citrus, melony with slight floral properties. The lactose is sweet and somewhat vanilla-like. Found at The Bayou, Slackwater. 6.5% Not vegan friendly.
Revision/Mosaka - Unrelenting Mauistli: A collaboration with Moksa Brewing. This has attractive clarity with a glowing straw color. Nose is mild with tropical fruit and malt sweetness. Taste is more in line with the style with more fruit and a hint of pine. Finish leans toward dry. Overall: considering the hop bill,of Strata, Simcoe, Citra and Mosaic, this is pretty subdued. Still, pretty enjoyable. 8.5% - Found at The Bayou, Slackwater.
Prairie - Rainbow Sherbet: Looks like pear nectar with little to no head. Aroma is cherry forward rainbow sherbet, with some underlying mineral and yogurt sour notes. Flavor brings a flash of rainbow sherbet, followed by lime seltzer, orange tic-tac, smarties, and strawberry nerds. It's sour candy in a glass. quite tasty, they nailed the rainbow sherbet vibe. 5.2% - Found at The Bayou, Slackwater. Not vegan friendly.
Cheers!
