New Beer Friday 5/6/22

If this week was a epic cinematic masterpiece, consider New Beer Friday to be the intermission for that Lawrence of the Arabia-esque flick. The concession stand has an excellent assortment of cold snacks to get you across the finish line to those coveted post-credit scenes that are the weekend.

Bohemian - Nala’s Lager: From the mind of Chaz Smith come 2021’s winner of Lagerpalooza: Utah’s only lager home-brew competition. This special pale lager was brewed utilizing unmalted rye, wheat, spalt and barley. The lager also features honey and Laurel hops. I need a stein of this! See you At Lagerpalooza tomorrow (5/7)! Oh, congrats Chaz!!!

Offset - Nectaron: This single hop pale ale showcases another new New Zealand hop. Peach in color, not really hazy, more unfiltered in appearance. This new hop is called Nectaron. The aroma in this one exploded with Passion Fruit, White Peach, and Pineapple. The taste follows with the addition of lime and grapefruit coming along toward the end. Bitterness is medium/low. 5.0% - Available (for now) at Offset Bier.

Bewilder - Chick Flip: Even without looking at the label, you can tell that this is a West Coast double IPA. Great clarity in color with decent retention. The aroma is incredible; Spent way too long just hovering over it. This year‘s pink boots blend doesn’t disappoint. Lots of orange and bitter grapefruit peel along with some mango and herbal teas. The finish Is long and bitter with 90 IBUs punching you in the tongue. Great stuff!

Offshoot - Secret: This west coast double IPA pours a bright, clear orange color with was made with copious amounts of Citra, Mosaic, and Cashmere hops, imparting aromas and flavors of bright citrus, mango, and soft melon. fresh, clean, and crisp. 8.1% - Found at Slackwater.

Squatters - El Cobre: Really toasty nose. Taste is similar, more toasted grain and cereal. This one isn’t super hoppy but I like what’s happening with this one. Kinda reminds me of a English mild that’s been lagered, minus the English hops. Excellent stuff!

The Bruery - Ruekeller Dunkel: Aroma of dark caramel malts. Very bready, like with pumpernickel and hints of toffee. Some dark chocolate and dark fruits as well. 6.3% - Found at Slackwater.

Hess - Eazy Drankin': Missed this one. It's described as a summer Honey Ale that's light and crisp,  brewed with 2-row barley, white wheat, and a splash of caramel malts. Each batch is brewed with 60 lbs of Orange Blossom Honey so it has a big honey aroma and flavor. Mild bitterness. 5.7% - Found at Slackwater.

Revision/Moonraker - 87 Knots: Pours on the darker-side of orange with a hazy body. Notes of Mango, passionfruit, lime and dank hops. This crusher is loaded with Mosaic Cryo, Motueka and Cashmere hops. Full of tropical fruit, grapefruit, mango, and hop oil. Damn Tasty. 6.7% - Found at Angry Goat.

Bootstrap - Chillax Pineapple Gold: Aroma of pineapple and popcorn. Taste starts sweet with malt, the pineapple adds some tartness. Not much in the way of hops. A little on the sweet side for me, but I can see many crushing this. 4.5% - Found at Angry Goat.

Here are this Week's Small Batch Beer from Hopkins

Cheers!
