Steph is off vacationing with the rest North America. Filling in is Salt Lake Brewing Company's Jason Stock as we welcome Chappell Brewing's Tim Chappell back to the radio pub.We get started at 2pm every Friday on 99.9fm KUAA or at KUAAFM.org/

Ogden Beer/Kiitos - Tmavé: This new collaboration is a Dark Czech Lager. Look for notes of milk chocolate with spicy hop character from the additions of spicy hops. Packed with flavor yet so light on the palate and easy to drink due to its lagering time. 5.0% - Available at Ogden Beer and Kiitos.

Level Crossing - Eternal Pursuit (Belgian Style Saison): This version in the series is a dry-hopped Belgian style Saison, made with orange blossom honey. The orange blossom Honey here really shines and gives the saison a nice citrusy feel. The overall yeast profile isn't too phenolic, just enough to compliment the bubblegum sweetness. Well hopped with a firm but balancing finish.

RoHa - 19th Flow: Toasty and floral aroma that continues into the palate. It a fairly dry beer that's got a lot of hop bitterness and toasty crackers. Long bitter finish. 5.0% - Available at RoHa.

Strap Tank - Art City Rider: Missed this coffee and coconut infused blonde ale. 5.0% Available at Strap Tank, Slackwater.

Shades - Mango Madness: This new Kveik sour not only features mangos but chilies as well. There's a good amount of mango that's not overly sweet and works well with the beer's sour base. The chilies are also subtle, more scratchy in the throat than hot. Nice beer. 6.3% - Available at both Shades locations.

Melvin - ChryogliphicsEmbossed can, very nice. I think this a brand new release! This “RIIPA” has a flowery aroma, thought it would be more tropical. Tastes peachy w/ nice citrus & a bit of berries. There some melon too. It’s a nice fruit salad. Knock it down to 8.0% & it’s 💵 Found at Beerhive

Uerige - Sticke: The "sticke" (secret) is a type of German Altbier, that's usually stronger, maltier, and hoppier than traditional altbier. Check out that flip top bottle. Aroma is malty & floral with some mineral bite. Tastes malty too but it’s quite dry. Much more bitter than I was expecting, with some copper pennies. A touch of oxidation as well. Those flip tops don’t seal the best. 🤷 6.0% - Found at the Bayou.

Uerige - DoppleSticke: Missed this one. 8.5%  - Found at the Bayou.

Salt Flats - Tropic Rye Lager: This is tasty! A rye lager with Motueka & El Dorado hops? Nice tinge of amber from the rye - great citrus profile with other vague tropical notes. Low bitterness with a clean finish. Stuff like this gives my beloved Citra pales a run for the money.

Salt Lake Brewing - Kohatu: Head Brewer at SL Brewing Jason Stock named this beer after the hop he used. He also pointed out the this hop spelled backwards is "Utah Ok". Refreshing flavor that's well hopped throughout, again notes of tropical fruits, herbs and spruce, with a grapefruit finish. 5.0% - available at SL Brewing.

Salt Lake Brewing - Beer Sting: This lavender and honey ale Smells of lavender. Go figure. Taste is more subtle, good amount of wheat, and the honey does come through too. The lavender is not as heavy as the nose and rounds it out like a lightly hopped ale. Tasty stuff, not soapy at all. 5.0% - available at SL Brewing.

Salt Lake Brewing - Big U Pilsner: This new German style pils will be a staple on draft and in cans going fi]forward from SL Brewing. It's toasty malts, simply sweet and grainy. Heber Valley - 8th Continent - IPA: This new IPA features all New Zealand hops (Motueka, Nelson Sauvin, Rakau). New Beer Friday 8/16/24

Need a break from life's critiques? This week's New Beer Friday artistic brews and break dancing event will score a perfect 10, regardless of technique.

Today on Beer Nerd Radio Steph and I welcome Allen Handy and Annika DiMeo as we give their pallets the ultimate beer work-out! What beer style will it be? You and our guests will know at 2pm today (Friday) on 99.9fm KUAA.

Kiitos - Hyper Wave: This IPA is part of a new direction that Kiitos is taking, not just in branding but also in approach and flavor. Whoa, big fruity aroma full of melon/citrus. First swig starts with more melon and tangerine. Excellent and full flavored. Berry notes from Nelson hops rounds it all out. One of the best 5% IPAs out there. Small batch, a must have Mikey Likey. 5.0% - Only at Kiitos starting today.

Fisher - Wet Your WilletHuge aroma of juniper & sage. Whoa, delivers on the pallet too. Big Juniper & sage, but it’s not too overwhelming. The malt bill jives really well with “spices”. One or the other would have been great, the two together are brilliant. Mikey Likey! 5.0% - Available in 16 ounce cans, now at Fisher.

Grid City - Coyote Elvis: This new wheat lager is 50/50 wheat malt and pilsner malt. This lager has a noticeably, pillowy feel. Kinda like a muffin with 85% of the sugars stripped-out. Delicately sweet with little yeast profile. toasty profile are subtle and complimentary. It’s in that realm between German pils & American wheat. I love this damn lager. A triple Mikey Likey! 4.8% - Only at Grid City.

Bolero Snort - Til the Streetlights Come On: This "Retro IPA" has all the new age juiciness you love, with old school clarity. To me "retro" would mean malt and hops recipes from 20 years ago. Meh, what ya gunna do? Missed out on this one. 5.0% Found at The Bayou.

New Beer Friday 8/2/24

I only like smoke in my beer, not my air. Probably a good plan to chill in the coolness of a tap room or pub and enjoy some of this week's new craft goodness. Happy New Beer Friday!

Clay Turnbow stops by the radio pub for another visit, this time as head brewer at Epic Brewing. Steph and I will get into what's new at Epic and how Clay is putting his mark on Utah's original high point brewery. Hit up at 2pm on 99.9fm or stream us at KUAAfm.org/

TF - Punta Mita PalomaNose is strong citrus, grapefruit, lemon and sugar with a spritzy tartness. Very aromatic and bright. Beer opens tart citrus and grapefruit. Some lemon zest and herbal bitterness in the middle with a seltzer tartness at the finish. Good balance. Body is light with ample carbonation. Prickly on the palate and goes down foamy and aggressive with a clean, slightly lingering finish. 5.0% - Available at TF.

Offset - Just Me (Most): The news release in Offset's single hop Pils series features a brand new hop from the Czech Republic simply called Most.  It is said to have notes of strawberry, black current, bubblegum, and subtle tropical fruit. 5.0% - Available at Offset for now.

RoHa - Red Snake Harvest Ale: Pours clear amber with a big head and medium carbonation. Smell is dank with a little honeysuckle. Almost earthy. Bitter finish builds up with several sips and lasts for some time. Taste is bitter and earthy with some graininess. Overall, it's quite tasty. 5.0% - Available at RoHa, soon to be poring at Snowbird Oktoberfest.

Epochal - Squarer of Circles: This beer is brewed with Scotch Common, a very old landrace Scottish barley used in beer and whisky production between the late 17th and early 19th Centuries. It was grown and malted by Crafty Maltsters in Fife and possesses a subtly honeyish spicy sweetness. It’s also hopped with UK Cascade and Bramling Cross from Brook House Hops in Herefordshire. Open fermentation with house Saccharomyces was followed by wood fermentation with Brettanomyces and finally bottle fermentation with both. So much character for such a little beer. 3.6% - Found at the Bayou.
