New Beer Friday 4/22/22

If You're looking for subtle IPAs this week, you can keep on look'n. None of that weak-ass shit is happening here this week. We have Terpenes, Sours, Bretts and extreme dry-hops.

Grid City - Spanish Cedar Infused Whole Floor Dry-Hopped Nitro Pale Ale: Made with Cryo-Citra, Cry-Mosaic and whole flowers of the before mentioned hops. This was also aged on Spanish cedar spirals, which add wonderful wood notes. The hops are nice and citrusy with low bitterness. The nitro gives it a silky feel. I love this one. 4.8% - Only at Grid City.

TF - Speaking TerpaneseHerbal, citrus, vegetal nose. Whoa! That chewy. I’m picking up some wasabi I think? Na....Citrus peel for sure along with pine and pipe tobacco. Pineapple and ginger next with that dank nug envelope coating the mouth. There’s a lot going on here. The flavor assault covers the booze pretty well, That being said, you'll still get quite hammered. 13.0% - Available at TF.

Shades - Dank AF: This is more subtle than Speaking Terpanese. That being said, this is still quite chewy and dank. Mostly pine resin with some bitter orange peel. Some terpene flavors add to the full mouthfeel. It lives up to its name for sure. If you're in to Dank and chewy, you'll love this. 7.0% - Found at Shades, Bayou, Beerhive,

Level Crossing - Zappa Hops Philly Sour IPA:These Zappa Hops a re a new/old hop out of New Mexico that are being grown in the northwest. The profile is herbal and citrusy combined with the sour from the Philly yeast. A tasty sour IPA.

Epic - Dos Locos:Aroma of sodium & lime peel. Flavor is a lil more intense than the standard Los Locos. Lotsa lime. There is salt for sure to balance the citric tartness. But the 7% ABV takes away from the overall drinkability slightly. - available at Epic today.

Epic - Horchata Cream Ale:Light cinnamon aroma. I was expecting a cinnamon bomb, it’s much more restrained. Light cinnamon, slight malt sweetness. Captures the intent for sure.5.0% - available at Epic today.

RoHa - Point Break Series (War child): This is a wild brett blend fermented on RoHa's Dog Tag IPA with added fresh pineapple. Funky/yeasty aroma with some vague fruitiness. A Wonderful pineapple snap hits first. I can really feel it in the back of my jaw. Plenty of malt sweetness & barn funk to balance it out. The pineapple works very well. Prob my fav Brett pale in many moons. 5.0% - Available today at Noon for RoHa's 5 year anniversary. A limited quantity of crowlers will be available, and will be pouring the remainder on Friday only until its gone.

Lagunitas - The WaldosA rich malt presence in the nose over a slightly boozy background with resiny hops. The taste is big on hop resins, sappy with some spicy and boozy notes. The finish is assertively bitter, but it fades into a tongue coating spicy and piney hop smear. 11.7% - Found at Beerhive, Slackwater

Melvin - Muy Grande: Made with Ariana hops that have notes of grapefruit, currant, oak & vanilla. Accompanying the Ariana is some Chinook and Mosaic. 8.5% - Found at Slackwater

Here are this week's Small Batch Beers from Hopkins Brewing.
