Local Casting for Home Brewing TV Show

Okay Home Brewers, Listen up. Apparently there is a Brooklyn based television production company looking to cast local Home Brewers in a possible, upcoming television program about different brewing cultures from around the U.S..

Below is a copy of the PDF that was sent to Amber at Utah's Barley's Angels Chapter. The info seems legit and the website seems legit . That being said, we (Amber and I) can't 100% vouch for it and advise anyone seeking to pursue it, to do an appropriate amount of research before giving up personal info.

With all of that cautionary language out of the way, it could be great exposure for the local beer culture and our local home brew clubs. Good Luck.

Cheers!

Fresh Cask Friday: KellerAlt

Today at Hoppers we have a single firkin for Fresh Cask Friday. 'Out of Bounds KellerAlt' is Brewer & Secret Agent Donovan Steele's traditional styled Altbier made with German Munich and pilsener malts. This particular version was, late hopped with German Hallertau Mittlefruh. Fermented initially at 58 F and left unfiltered for a secondary re-fermentation in the cask. It has a nice copper amber color, rich full flavor, 40+ IBU's, natural carbonation, and served directly from the cask.

Next week look for another version of the Altbier, this time with a bit of wood aging.

Last night's Barley's Angels Chocolate/Beer Pairing was a huge success. The all female event had ladies packed into the Beerhive's basement while wishful men sat sulking upstairs, cursing their damn y chromosomes. Some of us "tripods" muddled through as we had secret agents sneaking up samples of the cacao delights. Nice job on a great event ladies!

Cheers!

The Barley's Angels' Holiday Beer Cocktail Event

Ladies, we all know that men basically... suck. Let's be honest, the only reason that you guys keep us around is so that we tripods can help you populate the planet with more women.

When beer is mixed into the "man equation", I'm frankly baffled that y'all don't go sprinting for the nearest vomitorium.

To help you ladies enjoy a pint of suds without all of our knuckle dragging bullshit, The Utah Chapter of Barley's Angels was formed to help you, the fairest gender, delight in beer.

On behalf of our XX Chromosomed overlords, I'd like to invite all beer loving ladies to the Barley's Angels' Holiday Beer Cocktail Event. It takes place on Wednesday December, 5th at 7pm at the Kimball Arts Center in Park City. $5 gets you in.

To RSVP please call 801-719-0525 or email barleysangelsutah@gmail.com

Cheers!

Barley's Angels July Gathering

Last April we were happy to inform you that Barley's Angels a national organization comprised of female lovers of craft beer was starting a Utah chapter. Their first meeting was a huge success. Organizer, Alexandra Ortiz Fargher, said she was expecting 10-15 people and over 30 showed up.

If you are interested but were unable to attend, your second chance is close at hand. Their next quarterly educational social will be Thursday June 28th at the Kimball Arts Center in Park City. Jaime Burnham, manager of the Beer Nut, and Grand Poobah of the "Hop Bombshells" women's home brewing club, will be the featured speaker. Jamie will share her vast insights on home brewing and beer in general.

All women in the beer community, their friends and family are welcome, but please RSVP to alex@shadesofpale.com so that you can be added to the invite list. There is no event fee. Unlike the last social, there is no organized dinner after the event but a few "angels" will be heading out to dinner after, and all are welcome to join.

Ladies, this is a great opportunity to get acquainted with craft beer from women who have great knowledge and insight. Plus you don't have us extra chromosome "tripods" mucking things up. That right there is worth the trip.

Cheers!

Barley's Angel's: Utah Chapter

Utah's craft brew community has come a long way in a short time and Utah's women have been a big part of it. There are plenty of homebrew clubs around but no clubs designed especially for women. That is about to change.

Alexandra Ortiz Fargher, co-owner of Shades of Pale Brewing Co. has started up a Utah Chapter of Barley's Angels, a group committed to involving women in the enjoyment of craft beer by creating environments where women can learn more about beer in a friendly, educational and supportive atmosphere, thus creating more women beer enthusiasts, and, ultimately, involving more women in beer- and brewery-related careers.

The Park City chapter will meet quarterly, with the first meeting being held on Thursday, April 26, 2012. The meeting will start with a brief brewery tour then adjourn to Good Karma for a beer tasting and just taking time to get to meet other women, network, chat and enjoy each other's company.

All are welcome, whether you are a beer lover or just tasting your first glass! If you would like to be apart of Barley's Angels but cannot attend this event email alex@shadesofpale.com and she will keep you up-to-date on meetings/events!

Thank you, Alex for putting this together!

Cheers!
