New Beer Friday 10/11/24

More fresh hop beers debut in this week's New Beer Friday; along with a wide variety of ales and lagers that'll appeal to any palate.

This weekend is the SLC Pink Party (A bar crawl for the cure). What is it and what's it all about? Drew Reynolds from Grid City Beer Works visits the radio pub this afternoon at 2pm to give us all of the details and how to participate. Listen at 99.9fm or stream us at KUAAFM.org/

Offset - DAMP 24.03: This wet hop IPA is 3 of 5 in the DAMP Series. It features Centennial, Pink and HBC1019 and was fermented with Kolsch yeast. Oh my! The citrus here is witchcraft. Hard to believe that this damn beer has no juice in it. Definitely some berries and stone fruit too (and some hop burn). But holy shit; stuff like this puts Utah on the world map. 2-3 days this’ll be perfect. 6.0%

Level Crossing - Rising Hope (Juicy White Peach IPA): LC's annual IPA that's dedicated to raising money money for pediatric cancer research is back. Aroma of mostly peach. It's simple but so on point. Flavor starts out with grapefruit, fades into white peach, and then ends on a very nice malty herbal note. This is an enjoyable pale ale. Feel is creamy and huge. It just develops in your mouth, it doesn't thin out, and it doesn't back down. I love the added peach and it doesn't add much sweetness or overwhelm the style with fruitiness. It compliments the IPA very well. 5.0% - Available at both Level Crossing locations.

RoHa - Out of the Park: This new Hazy Pale Ale features Zappa, Comet, Idaho seven and Pomona yeast. It's mostly citrus driven with some herbal bite. Malts are on the toasty side. The yeast adds hints of strawberry. 5.0% - Available at RoHa.

Fisher - Fresh Hop IPA: It's back with all of its fresh Idaho 7 goodness. Smells of hops, citrus, and pine. Tastes of fresh hops, orange zest, black tea, pine, and a light malt base. Medium in both body and carbonation. Overall a very nice single hops IPA. 6.5%

Hopkins - Locals Only: Hopkins' annual harvest beer featuring 100% local Utah ingredients is back. The grain is grown locally and then malted by Solstice Malt and the hops (Cascade, Chinook) were harvested fresh from around the Salt Lake Valley. 5.0%

Shades - Black Cloud: This "Black Lager" has a faint aromas of burnt grain and noble hops. Sharp roasted grain and moderate noble hops flavors and bitterness. This is a clean-drinking lager with some roasted and smokey notes. 5.0%

Uinta - Dumb Ass Dunkel: Aroma is largely dominated by caramel with light hints hops, touches of dark chocolate and some toasty malt in the taste. dominant caramel and roasted malts really hit the spot and the overall profile seemed to be quite well rounded with a creamy smooth finish that was lightly dried out by lingering and tight hop notes. 5.0% - Only at Uinta.

Uinta - New Zealand Abbey Lager: Taste is bright and grainy, like the flavor of a fresh wheat  along with some light berry flavors. The fruity aspect of it grows. Nice crisp beer that is easy to drink. 5.0% - Only at Uinta.

Drekker - Eager Eyes: This IPA is a mix of Nectaron Cryo, Nelson Cryo, HBC 586, and Citra hops. Look for a peach, yuzu, passionfruit and mango dreamsicle flavors. 6.6% - Found at Slackwater.

Drekker - Slang Du Jour (Key Lime Pie): This beer was brewed with tons of Lime, Banana, Pear, Vanilla Soft Serve Ice Cream, Cinnamon, Lactose and Granola to taste just like pie in a glass. 6.6% - Found at Slackwater.

Drekker - Broken Rudder: Look for smooth caramel flavor and toasted malt notes. Brewed with over 15lbs of honey per batch. It has a hint of sweetness with a crisp, clean and dry finish. 5.0% - Found at Slackwater.

WeldWerks - Three Dimensions: This Hazy Double India Pale Ale was made with El Dorado, Idaho 7, Mosaic 702, Motueka and Rakau SubZero Hop Kief hops. 8.4% - Found at Slackwater.
