Well, May is off to a warm start; better get on some of these summer forward beers this weekend. Also, if you're looking for some great beers to pair with your Pride celebrations we have a list of the local themed beers as well. Happy Pride and New Beer Friday!
Bewilder - El Fruti Boi: This Pride themed Milkshake IPA was made with pineapple and guava. This is fruity but not too sweet. The guava is most prominent popping out early on with nice citrus notes from the hops backing it up. Pineapple tanginess brings up the back end. Tasty stuff. 6.0% At Bewilder and Mountain West Cider.
Bewilder American Zwickelbier: This lager was made with flaked corn which gives it a slight cereal character that is clean and grainy sweet. floral hops round it all out. 4.8% Available on draft at Bewilder.
Toasted Barrel - Double Juicy IPA: Really bright, fresh fruit aroma with mango and passionfruit. Flavor brings in pineapple and guava along with maybe a hint of spicy lemongrass. White peppercorn? Quite thin on body, malt, and mouthfeel, very much a wheat IPA kind of profile, but with less alpha bitterness. 8.5%
Salt Flats - Rainbow Road: This sour ale was made with banana and peach. The banana is subtle and adds a nice locto-ish sweetness without the actual milk sugars being present. The peach works well with the sour base and the whole package is quite pleasant. Available at Salt Flats and various beer pubs and restaurants around SLC.
Squatters - Kellerbier: The smell and taste are a lot on honey, floral and grassy hops, clover, orange zest. Very mellow and balanced. The hop, malt and yeast characterisrics are well integrated and bring a bold beer. The bitter sweet profile is enjoyable and the beer stays drinkable all the way. Its creamy mouthfeel goes well with the whole thing. 5.0% - Only at Squatters Downtown
Squatters - MMMM Hop: This pale ale is made with a shload of mosaic hops which makes it a perfect pale in my book. mmmm. 5.0% only at Squatters Downtown.
Melvin - Warrying Empires: Missed this. It's described as a luminous wheat ale dry-hopped with Lotus and finished with a touch of Buddha’s hand fruit. The soft wheat body lets the hops and fruit shine with bright citrus and tropical creamsicle flavors. 6.0% - Found at Bayou.
Rogue - Raspberry Tartlandia: Missed this. The name kinda says it all, eh? Found at Slackwater (Sandy).
Shoffenhofer - Passion fruit Hefeweizen: Missed this one too. 2.5% Found at Bayou.
I'm sure that I'll miss a few of these, but here's a list of beers and ciders that were designed around Utah's Pride celebrations. Consider enjoying some of these with your pride parties.
