Ogden City Brew Supply is Now Open

Attention Ogden home brewers you now have a new home brew shop to help fulfill your need to brew beer. Ogden City Brew Supply is the only brewing supply store in Utah, North of Salt Lake City that serves the needs of beer, wine, cider, mead brewers. OCBS offers a wide range of beer kits and wine kits and equipment along with a long list of specialty grain, adjuncts, yeast and hops.

Ogden's had a tough go of it, in the home brew dept. There have been shops that have dotted the map, but they have lacked staying power. OCBS is a sister shop from the guys over at Salt City Brew Supply in Midvale. They've proved their staying power in Salt Lake County - I believe their knowledge will be of great benefit to Ogden's brewers.

The shop is open: Weekdays 10:30 - 6:30 ~ Saturday 10:00 - 6:00  ~ Sunday 11:00 - 4:00 (closed Tuesday) and is located at 2269 Grant Ave in Ogden. Congrats to OCBS and to Northern Utah's Home Brewers for keeping home brewing alive up north.

Cheers!

Uinta's Contrail White and Lagerpalooza Results

Uinta has a new beer on the way soon. Contrail White is a spiced Belgian-style wheat beer that is brewed with orange peel and coriander. If you'll recall, Uinta did a similar beer a few years ago under their Four+ label called Rype. It was an Amber Wheat made with sweet orange peel. I liked Rype, probably gunna like this witbier too. We'll keep you in the loop as to when it get's closer to it's release. This will likely be a 4% ABV beer.

Also, the results are in from last weekend's Lagerpalooza home brew competition. As the name implies this was an all lagered competition (and hybrids). The Hop Bombshells Calendar

The odds are pretty good that those who drink great craft beer will look to take their love of suds to the next level and try to duplicate their favorite beers at home. Homebrewing cubs are popping up all over the state, bringing like minded people together to collaborate and share their love beer.

For the most part Homebrewing is seen as a man’s game, but there's one homebrew club out there changing the common perception of who Utah's homebrewers are. Since March of 2012, The Hop Bombshells Homebrew club has been fostering and empowering women of all walks of life to help every one of their members achieve her best brew possible.

The Hop Bombshells are not only about the best brew, but also about giving back to our community. and they could use your help. Some of the the "ladies in brew" have put themselves out there for all to see in a special charitable calendar, in a theme set around 1940's pin-up girls. It's a great looking calendar and the ladies are funny, cute and sexy.

The cost is $20 and a portion of the proceeds will go to a charity to be determined. The Holidays are coming up and this calendar is perfect for the Man Cave, Kitchen or Brewery.

The HopBombshells Calendar is available at the Beernut and Salt City Homebrew Supply. Brilliant job ladies!

Cheers!

Salt City Brew Supply

Home Brewers Rejoice. There will soon be a new option to aid in you beer/wine making addiction.

Salt City Brew Supply will soon be Salt Lake County's third retailer for homebrewing enthusiasts. Set to open around the first of May, SL Brew will offer equipment and ingredients for home brewing beer, wine, and coffee roasting.

SL Brew will be located at 750 E. Fort Union Blvd. in Midvale near Hoppers Brewpub.

That two new homebrew shops to open up along the Wasatch front in the past six months. I guess there's something to this whole "love of beer" thing in Utah after all. Eh?

Good luck to Ross and Cody on their new venture.

Cheers!
