New Beer Friday 7/8/22

Headlines can often be misleading. New Beer Friday always offers the best beer news with questionable spelling and germmatical errors. 😉

Shades - Orange Papaya: This base beer here is the typical Shades Kviek driven sour. The tartness is medium/high and puckering. The orange aspect comes through quite well and is bright. The papaya is a bit more muted and gets a little lost behind the tart base beer. Still, it's a nice fruity beer that disappeared from glass fast. 6.5% - Limited amount, available now at both Shades location.

Offset - Glossy: This new IPA features Citra, Motueka and Cashmere hops and is all about maximizing hop expression in a more drinkable low ABV package. Glossy is designed to showcase the fruity side of Citra, by pairing it with smaller additions of Cashmere and Motueka. The results are big citrus flavors and aromas with tangerine, pithy grapefruit, bright lemon and lime zest. 5.0%

Offset - Extroversa: This sour features plum, peach, blackberry and raspberry. Instead of kettle souring they used this newly discovered wild yeast that ferments and sours at the same time. It adds a really interesting complex "wild" character akin to a more traditional long term sour fermentation. The fruits provide layers that change as the beer warms. Much more sour than previous batches. 5.0%

TF - Triple Fruited Imperial Mango Gose: The name seems to say it all in regards to this ale. Compared to the above mentioned Shades beer, this one has a tartness that is much more subtle and it's fruitiness is also huge. This comes across very much like a mimosa errr.... beermosa. my glass was half empty before I remembered that this is a 11.2% beer. Excellent stuff. Available starting today, only at TF.

Uinta - Pro Line Juicy IPA: This is release number 4/6. This IPA was brewed exclusively with hops from Roy Farms. Cashmere, el Dorado and Strata hops along with Star Party Yeast, create vibrant notes of pineapple, passionfruit and papaya during fermentation with intense tropical flavors from the hops. Wheat, oats and a touch of honey malt create the backbone. Nice unfiltered clarity, excellent amber color. Aroma is juicy as described with some herbal qualities in back. Citrus definitely leads-off with a good dose of caramel malt. The hops bounce around from orange to “little cuties”. Some herbal zip as well as it finishes with medium bitterness. Excellent West Coast Double. 8.2% - Releases tomorrow at Uinta's General Store and Brewhouse Pub.

Fisher - United Haze of America: Missed this new Hazy Pale Ale. 5.0% - Only at Fisher.

Slackwater's SLC location is officially up and serving. Slackwater's third location is definitely going to raise the beer selection game in Salt Lake. Congrats to Slackwater on their new Granary location.
