We're Back! Hope you all had a great Holiday. After some time off we have a couple weeks worth of beers. There's plenty. If you're doing Dryuary, you should probably stock-up. Happy New Beer Friday.
Beer Nerd Radio has Slackwater's Mater of procurement, Joey Cardaccio. He's the guy keeping all of us current on all of the craft beer happenings from outside of our boarders. Check us out at 2pm today (Friday) on 99.9FM KUAA.
TF & Wild West Brewing (China) - (yet unnamed lager): This global collaboration lager with China's Wild West Brewing has a very botanical aroma with some peppery notes. Tastes very botanical. Green and red Sischuan peppercorns were brought in from China and are really the driving force to the flowery lager. Some citrus peel pops up as well, giving this a gin-like quality (without all the booziness). So bright and fresh tasting and it’s all driven by those damn peppercorns!Grid City - IPA (West Coast Style #6): Unfiltered. Looks perfect. Great old school aroma of malty peach & citrus peel. Tastes same with big grapefruit, chewy malt & apricot. The bitterness is west coast firm. Not overwhelming, but not for the NEIPA crowd. A great WCIPA. 7.2% - Available at Grid City.
Heber Valley - The "Choice" IPA: This is the result of using Motueka and Nelson Sauvin hops. A healthy dose of Nectaron round out this New Zealand inspired hazy beer. Look for flavors and aromas of ripe mango, cara cara orange, papaya, pineapple and stone fruit. 7.1% - Available at Heber Valley.
Heber Valley - Dark Ages: This Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout was aged in High West Bourbon Barrels and blended it with blackberry puree and cacao nibs. Dark Ages showcases complex flavors and aromas of roasted malt, dark fruit, fudge, vanilla, bittersweet chocolate and an upfront punch of tart fermented blackberry. 12.2% - Available in 12oz & 19.2oz cans.
Fisher - Southern Scales: This NZ Pale Ale has a lot of citrus with a hint of peach and melon. Nice overall flavors that work well with evenly malty base. 5.0% - Available at Fisher.
Uinta - Corns Light: On the R&D tap. Mostly toasted malt aroma. Like you’d expect, there’s corn for sure, but there’s also a solid Pilsner malt backbone. Hops are floral & lightly herbal. Big co2. Not re-inventing the wheel or anything, just a solid light lager. 4.7% - Available at Uinta.
Ogden Beer & Uinta - Sup Bro: Missed this Sabro hopped Czech-style lager. 5.0% - Available at Ogden Beer now, Uinta next week.
Proper - Second Breakfast: This oatmeal stout has a thick, beige head and a dark-brown appearance, with ruby highlights. The aroma is of dark-roast coffee and brown bread. The favor is roasted coffee, brown bread, and bitterness. Light body and a dry finish. 5.0% - Available at Proper.
Melvin - Juice Oddity: Miss this Juicy DIPA. 8.8% - Found at Handlebar.
Here are this week's Small Batch Beers from Hopkins Brewing.
Cheers!
