New Beer Black Friday 11/28/25

Well here we are. Another New Beer Black Friday. Sometimes this day can be lean for beer lovers, others can be fat with beer flowing like rivers. I'd call this an "ample year'. I enjoyed the hell out of all of these, hope you will too. Happy New Beer Black Friday and of course, Happy Pint Day!

Speaking of Pint Day we will be discussing who and where you can find your 2025 Pint Day Glasses on Beer Nerd Radio this afternoon. Steph has been working her ass of to bring these beautiful glasses to us, and we can't wait to see you all out this weekend. Also on the Show Deck DeBoard of Utah newest beer hotspot Wolfdog Brewing will be in to give you all of the details. If we're lucky we'll have a sample of one of their brand new collaboration beers to talk about as well. And if that's not enough surprise guests will be stopping by as well. we start Fridays at 2pm on 99.9fm KUAA ( KUAAfm.org/ ).

Epic - Small Batch Series (Powder Panic)
So this “winter IPA”. Feature all the “ol man winter hops”. Centennial, Chinook & CTZ Hops with a dose of juniper berries. So much classic citrus peel in these hops. Some minor tropical flavors here but it those damn “C” hops that are killing with classic hop citrus and those juniper berries round it all out. 7.5% - Available at Epic.

Level Crossing - Del Griffith StoutThis a “small beer” from the 2nd running of LV’s Red Sea Rift. Slight coffee nose. Whoa! Big cocoa with vanilla, more coffee & orange zest. Damn it! This is soooo good. Dare I say, another Mikey Likey! This is a small batch. Don’t wait too long. 5.0% - Only at Level crossing on nitro.

Grid City - Barrel-Aged Imperial Brown AleDefinite Bourbon aroma. Co2 is light but the bourbon is not. It’s quite wonderful. Great vanilla & oak with ample malt that takes this into Barleywine territory. Not as toffee forward as a BW - more nougat. Excellent body & drinkability. Mikey Likey! 9.6% Avcaiable at Grid City

Saltfire - A Series of Singularities (Dolcita)I believe this hop used-to-be HBC-1019. If I’m wrong please correct me. Big dank citrus peel up ftont transitions to an equal amount of herbal smack. I think beer nerd’s will enjoy this one. Tastes expensive, but it ain’t. 7.3% - Available now at Saltfire.

Heber Valley - 435 Pale Ale: This modern pale ale is designed to check all the boxes. Crisp, bright, crushable, and enough hop complexity to keep things interesting. Golden Promise makes up the majority of the grist along with some white wheat malt and just a tiny sprinkle of Caramunich. For hops, they chose Cashmere as well as some Idaho-7. 6.0% - Available now at Weber Valley.

Uinta - Cutthroat Zero: Smells familiar. Maybe somewhat dry. Tastes drier than a regular too. The did manage to capture the overall feel but that lack of malty-goodness is missed. Good hop profile - finishes quite dry with some lingering bitterness. If I'm drinking N/As, I'd say "yes".

Returning Favorites

Red Rock - Secale 2025: Everyones favorite rye on rye barrel-aged lager is back. pours a dark ruby color with a moderate two fingers of off-white head. The nose has a dry roasted malt aroma along with a light rye spiciness. It's rounded out with a mild caramel malt and vanilla aroma. The taste starts with Caramel malts and toffee. Chocolate covered raisins come next come next with a dry rye spiciness. Hints of vanilla and whiskey come next in the end, as well as a subdued hop bitterness that balances the malty sweetness in the finish. The body is full and the whiskey notes become a bit more pronounced as it warms. The 8.5% abv is well hidden but sneaks up you quickly.

Templin Family - Holihaze: Lotsa tasty citrus, peach, melon and berries happening in the best fruit salad ever in IPA form. 7.4% - Available at TF.

Level Crossing Red Sea Rift: This imperial coffee stout showcases the Red Sea Blend coffee bean Jack Mormon Coffee Company. Red Sea is a curated mix of Ethiopian and Yemen dry-processed coffee giving off bright aromas of ripe red fruits, berries and dark chocolate. This imperial stout was brewed with base malts and flaked oats from Solstice Malt as well as variety of dark roasted and caramel malts, giving the beer a rich and complex body. 9.6% - Available today at Level Crossing.

Here are this week's Small Batch Beers from Hopkins Brewing.
