We here at Utah Beer Maps, Diagrams and Placards encourage you to use our new Map App called "Pour Decisions" (yes, the irony is not lost on us). Our app will guide you to all of our New Beer Friday offerings. Best used with your bike or favorite ride share. (to be clear, that was satire, we don't have an app, maybe we should?)
Talisman Brewing's Smoke-Tember Fest is the topic of discussion on Beer Nerd Radio today (Friday). Many breweries will be participating with smoked and non-smoked beer and barbecue of course! Steph and Mikey crank-up the the Radio Pub's transmitter at 2pm, exclusively on 99.9fm KUAA. KUAAfm.org/
Epic - Mango IPA: This new IPA is different than the one from 2018. That DIPA was also not sold in Utah because it was only available on draft at Epic's Denver brewery. This version features all citra hops and 1Ibs of Mango per gallon. Mango is the star for sure, but the Citra hops crank the citrus profile here. This is G'damn tasty and Fresh AF. The previous version also had lactose added. No lactose in here. 8.2% - Available now Epic.
Offset / Cellar Maker - Zion's Dank: This West Coast IPA is a collaboration with Cellar Maker Brewing out of central Cali. This is the first of four collabs brewed to celebrate Offset's 5th Anniversary. This features Tropical Fusion, a highly sought-after, proprietary hop blend produced by Freestyle Hops in New Zealand. It delivers an insane amount of Tropical fruit character. Not just sweet fruit but that interesting funky almost overripe tropical fruit notes. They then combined that with more Nelson, Southern Cross, NZ Cascade, and lots of Mosaic. Pale pilsner malt base and clean American ale fermentation lays that very blank canvas for pure hop saturation. 7.0% - Available now at Offset Bier.
UTOG - Pushy Pumpkin: Missed this new Pumpkin ale. 5.0% - Available
Heber Valley - Choice: While technically not new this NZ IPA never really got a lot of play it's first time around. Hopefully this time around it will get some attention.Featuring Motueka and Nelson Sauvin hops, the HV Brewers threw in a healthy dose of Nectaron to round it out this hazy IPA. Pillowy mouthfeel. Flavors and aromas of ripe mango, Cara Cara orange, papaya, pineapple and stone fruit. 7.1% - Available at Heber Valley Brewing.
RoHa - Red Dragon: Mostly vanilla aroma. Vanilla is still prominent in first swig. Cinnamon? That’s just a background player. This doesn’t have a holiday vibe. It’s totally different due to the subtle use of spice. Never had such a “chill” use of cinnamon. 5.0% - Available now at RoHa.
RoHa- Schnappsidee Pilsner: This German-style pils is all original. Great cracker and biscuit malt profile. Hops are Nobel and herbal. It's clean and delish. 5.0% - Available now at Roha.
Uinta - Nitro Cream Ale: Who loves a Nitro Pub Ale? This guy. Who loves Honey Malt? Yup, same douche-bag. This is wonderful. Just sweet enough without being annoying. Nitro makes it silky, without being heavy. Hops are floral and well balanced. It takes a sec to pour, so be patient. 5.0% - Available on Nitro now at Uinta.
Uinta - Band Meeting: This New Zealand IPA starts off with a faint melon nose. Carries on into the first swig. Nice hop profile. Mostly melon with some slight citrus and berry. Not super bitter, but firm for sure. Dry herbally finish. Available now at Uinta.
Uinta - Corn Fixation: Corny aroma. Drinks really light. Lotsa pilsner malt and corn. Hops are on the light side. Kinda like a Mexican Cerveza without the hop zip. Still feels like a craft beer, with more body than say a Coors Light. 4.8% Available now at Uinta.
Desert Edge - Schnitzer's Rye: This rye combines two styles, a classic American Cream Ale and a traditional rye forward German Ale. The aroma is herbacious with just a subtle hint of rye and fresh baked bread. With a malt forward, dry yet subtle sweetness from the rye. Homey and delightful. 5.0% - Available at Desert Edge now.
Cheers!
