Desert Edge to Package Beer

Desert Edge Brewing Co. has been a staple in Utah's beer scene since 1995. Hell, The Pub portion of the business has been in operation since 1972 - few establishments can claim that kind of longevity. In all of that time of making and serving beer, the draft only brewpub has never got into the packaging game... until now.

Through a little digging, I came across what appears to be a new label for a 'high point" IPA called Pando. The label art feature a tranquil, water color scene of aspen trees and appears to be designed for a 12 ounce can.

Desert Edge's head brewer, Chad Krusell makes some of the best pale ales in the state, I have high confidence that this 7.1% India Pale Ale will make the Trolley Square brewpub (and the state) proud.

Hop Pick'n and Grin'n

It's nearly time to start harvesting hops and the fine people at Desert Edge Brewing could use a hand if you have a few minutes to spare. On Tuesday August, 19th Desert Edge will hold their annual Hop Picking party to help in the creation of D.E.'s seasonal beer Radius.

Radius, is made with ingredients grown within 150 miles of the Wasatch Front. Head Brewer, Chris Haas acquires the malt just over the state line in Idaho and the hops grow wild and are picked just a few miles away from the foothills near the brewery.

It's an all day affair at the brewery. So come on down and bring a friend, or anyone that can separate a flower from a stem - even if you can only spare 10 minutes. This is a community event for beer lovers, beer drinkers, beer enthusiasts, people who like to talk about beer, people who don't like beer etc.

Spread the word and just show up at the brewpub on the morning of the 19th. I suspect there will be beer involved. Weird, huh? Any question, hit the Desert Edge Facebook Page.

40 Years at the Pub!

November 2012 marks the 40-year anniversary of first being the Pub, and now The Desert Edge Brewery at the Pub. The Pub/Desert Edge has been a staple at Trolley Square for as long as I can remember, many of my family member have worn aprons and served their delicious food. 

To thank all of you loyal customers The Pub/DE is hosting a celebration starting November 24 – November 30.

Anniversary events consist of contests, a reunion night for former employees and a week of retro prices on select beverage and menu items. Retro Prices for beer will run from November 24 – November 30. Pints $3.00 - Pitchers $8.00.

There will also be prizes given for Pub Trivia. Test your knowledge of long forgotten Pub details. The prizes will consist of gift certificates for dinner for two to the Desert Edge Brewery, Red Butte Café, Martine and Stella Grill. The winner will be chosen randomly and posted to the Desert Edge Brewery Blog.
