More New Beer 5/19/10

Remember last Friday when I said "there was new beer for you"? well I didn't know the half of it. Here are some of the yummy additions to that incomplete list.

Chambly Noire: a smooth and creamy dark beer with a beige and persistent head. Its torrefaction aromas and slight bitterness enable it to perfectly accompany various fish dishes, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. (Bayou, State)

Full Sail Hop Pursuit: A crisp blonde extra pale ale with a medium malt body. The malts are chased by a ton of hop flavor and a zing of bitterness. (Bayou, State)

Konings Hoeven: Its flavor is full, mild and pleasantly bitter. From one of the seven beer producing monasteries. (Bayou)

Le Merle Saison: A rustic ale, pale in color, inspired by the rich brewing traditions of the Flanders region. Abundant hops and a Belgian yeast strain contribute exotic aromas and tropical fruit notes. (Bayou)

Meantime London Porter: Aroma is chocolate malt, coffee, roasty. Good medium body with easy drinking roasty malt, chocolate and sweet creamy roasty finish. (Bayou)

Rogue Double Mocha Porter: Has an aroma of dark chocolate, roasted, malts, and notes of vanilla. Very smooth an silky. Finish brings a lingering chocolate flavor. (Bayou)

St. Feuillien's Saison: . Lemon, orange and dusty Belgian yeast aromas. Sharp with sweet citrus upfront, turning peppery in the middle into a nice, mild hop bite. (Bayou)

Cheers!

Deschutes & Other New Beers in Utah

You should start seeing Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale & Black Butte Porter in state stores with in the next week or so. If sales are descent we could see more of their labels in the coming months, so do your duty. But not at the expense of our local guys.

Also I'd like to thank the "Original" Andy for bringing this up. Unibroue Maudite and Rogue's Yellow Snow are listed as 50% off at the liquor stores. That's great news! However, this means that the state stores will no longer be carrying them.

Not to worry though, The Bayou - who originally brought these beers into the state to begin with, will still be selling Maudite and Yellow Snow there.

Other new beers out there for you to enjoy.
- Sam Adam's Imperial White
- Sam Adam's Imperial Stout
- Sam Adam's Imperial Double Bock
- Rogue's Double Dead Guy Ale
Cheers!

Unibroue Édition 2005 still alive & well in SLC

Generally; when a fine, limited edition beer comes along they tend to disappear before you ever knew they were around. This is not the case with Unibroue's Édition 2005. I don't know how or why, but for some reason there are still quite a few of bottles of this remarkable ale floating around the "SLC". If you find yourself downtown near the the Wine Store, grab a few if you can.

The 2005 comes in a handsome 750 ml. bomber with a wire cage and a cork. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with three fingers of foam. The nose is spicy, with flowers, yeast, fig and sweet malts. The taste started simple with sweet red apple and spicy doughy cinnamon. Dark Rum and raisin come next with herbal hops rounding out the finish. Everything balanced out nicely. The alcohol is well hidden, which improves it's drinkability nicely.
