It looks like Black Diamond Brewing Co. out of Concord, California is looking to expand it's distribution network and Utah is on the list places slated for 2014. Black Diamond recently turned 20 years old last March and currently brews nine core beers, four seasonal and five barrel aged
beers, including its 15 Barrel Series (15 barrels of something
different every month).
The Northern California brewery is also doing test batches of a session IPA called Hop Top that is designed to work especially for the Utah market. Session beers are big right now, a few years ago you would only find them in a hand full of states, now most breweries have a t least one ":sessionable" beer for patrons that want flavor without the punch. Other beers from BD's portfolio will be available as well.
Besides Utah, Black Diamond will be distributing its beer to bars and
stores in New Mexico, Wyoming and Texas. The company is currently
in the process of purchasing its own canning line as well.
No word as of yet on when Black Diamond will be here, they have apparently inked a deal with Salt Lake's Carlson Distribution. More info when available. Thanks Brady for the heads-up!
Cheers!
