New Beer Friday 8/30/24

Have guests in town? No matter what they speak, the universal language of New Beer Friday will be most welcoming to all visitors.

Steph is off vacationing with the rest North America. Filling in is Salt Lake Brewing Company's Jason Stock as we welcome Chappell Brewing's Tim Chappell back to the radio pub.We get started at 2pm every Friday on 99.9fm KUAA or at KUAAFM.org/

Ogden Beer/Kiitos - Tmavé: This new collaboration is a Dark Czech Lager. Look for notes of milk chocolate with spicy hop character from the additions of spicy hops. Packed with flavor yet so light on the palate and easy to drink due to its lagering time. 5.0% - Available at Ogden Beer and Kiitos.

Level Crossing - Eternal Pursuit (Belgian Style Saison): This version in the series is a dry-hopped Belgian style Saison, made with orange blossom honey. The orange blossom Honey here really shines and gives the saison a nice citrusy feel. The overall yeast profile isn't too phenolic, just enough to compliment the bubblegum sweetness. Well hopped with a firm but balancing finish.

RoHa - 19th Flow: Toasty and floral aroma that continues into the palate. It a fairly dry beer that's got a lot of hop bitterness and toasty crackers. Long bitter finish. 5.0% - Available at RoHa.

Strap Tank - Art City Rider: Missed this coffee and coconut infused blonde ale. 5.0% Available at Strap Tank, Slackwater.

Shades - Mango Madness: This new Kveik sour not only features mangos but chilies as well. There's a good amount of mango that's not overly sweet and works well with the beer's sour base. The chilies are also subtle, more scratchy in the throat than hot. Nice beer. 6.3% - Available at both Shades locations.

Melvin - ChryogliphicsEmbossed can, very nice. I think this a brand new release! This “RIIPA” has a flowery aroma, thought it would be more tropical. Tastes peachy w/ nice citrus & a bit of berries. There some melon too. It’s a nice fruit salad. Knock it down to 8.0% & it’s 💵 Found at Beerhive

Uerige - Sticke: The "sticke" (secret) is a type of German Altbier, that's usually stronger, maltier, and hoppier than traditional altbier. Check out that flip top bottle. Aroma is malty & floral with some mineral bite. Tastes malty too but it’s quite dry. Much more bitter than I was expecting, with some copper pennies. A touch of oxidation as well. Those flip tops don’t seal the best. 🤷 6.0% - Found at the Bayou.

Uerige - DoppleSticke: Missed this one. 8.5%  - Found at the Bayou.

Hop Butcher For The World - Sweet Home: Missed this Citra, El Dorado & Motueka-hopped New England / Hazy. 6.5% Found at Slackwater.

Seven Island Brewery - Skull Smasher: Double dry hopped New England double IPA with Citra, Simcoe and Mosaic hops  IPA - Imperial / Double New England.. 8%  Found at Slackwater.

Mason Ale Works - Can't Resist the Oats: This Double Dry Hopped Hazy Triple IPA was brewed with a massive amount of oats and wheat to give this hazy a thick body with a creamy mouthfeel. Bursting with aromas of tropical fruit, citrus and pine from the dry hop of Citra, Mosaic, and Cascade. 10.5%

Mountain West Cider's new line of barrel-aged ciders marks an exciting development for cider enthusiasts. By utilizing Oak barrels inoculated with Brettanomyces, they are delving into a realm of innovative flavor profiles. The promise of variations such as Cuvee, Framboise, and Peche that are sure to delight the senses and push the boundaries of traditional cider-making. ABV 6% $9.99 500ml bottle.
