Strap Tank Brewing Company

If you thought I was happy little beer gnerd yesterday while debuting Kiitos Brewing to the world - how do you think I feel today doing another new Utah brewery announcement? Well, I'm feeling a lot like an ice cream shop owner on Conference weekend. Not only is there a new contender in the Utah Craft beer game -It looks like there will be a whole other race to see who will be Utah County's first brewery - since the start of Prohibition.

Now, we've been reporting on our friends in Provo from Maple Mountain Brewing Co. since 2014 - the boys are still on track for a 2016 opening, but a new entry into the "Happy Valley" beer game has emerged and is looking to jump into the lead.

Strap Tank Brewing Co. is the brainchild of owner Rick Salisbury. Rick has made his name as a home builder and is also the owner of Salisbury Homes in Utah. This leg-up in the building industry will be of great benefit as he is building, from ground up - what looks to be an amazing Brewery and Restaurant in Springville, Utah. Strap Tank (the rarest of all Harley Davidson motorcycles) will be located across the street from the Indian Motorcycle shop that Rick also owns and will opening sometime in the first half of 2016.

They will be brewing handcrafted, quality ales and lagers on a 10bbl Specific Mechanical system. The menu will be a classic brewpub menu, highlighting locally sourced ingredients. The brewery will be located at 1715 n. 500 w. in Springville, UT.

Jennifer Talley of Squatters Brew Pub fame has been hired on as a consultant for Strap Tank. Jen was an integral part of SLC's craft beer scene in the 90's and 2000's. Jen is currently (and happily) employed as the head of Brewery Development for Auburn Alehouse and living in Grass Valley, CA. If you have the skills, Jen is looking for a Head Brewer to run the brewhouse at  Strap Tank. Any one who is interested can email Jen directly at jtalley@xmission.com or see her recently re-posted ad on Probrewer.

For scoring purposes - we now have Talisman, Proper and Kiitos breweries coming on-line in the next month or so. Now we have Strap Tank a month or two after those and Maple Mountain later this year. That's a lot of new 2016 beers my friends. Chime in, will ya?

Prost!

Usually Utah County is that place I speed through, feeling like I'm in enemy territory, as I head to points further south (and arguably more open minded). But now, I can't wait to park my truck in Springville Utah and enjoy a hand crafted beer. Especially if Jennifer Talley is involved. I'll be making frequent stops at all in these. Wahoo!

I'll still be travelling out of state for quality brews, but it is always nice to see more coming into the state of Utah! Welcome all you new breweries! Hopefully this state will continue to loosen up as time progresses...

So exciting since I live in Orem! Do you know if they'll have a pub or tasting room?

It will be a brewpub. Full bar & full kitchen. I did a story on it for Fox13 News. It airs Monday at 9pm. Tune in for a preview.

You are awesome! I have not been there yet! But admirer the admiration of your company!! Entrepreneur's are far and in between these days but you come out fists punching! I admire what you do despite stigmatism for the future! The future is in your hands and your giving us the inquisition. For the best of years to come cheers! And peace!

Fabulous to see a brew pub in Happy Valley! I'm looking to do a feature on Utah beer for a Swedish print magazine, who is up and running by now and would look good in pictures? Or who do you think I should interview? Jennifer seems like she has been very involved...
