Hoptah IPA

Last May we informed you that Black Diamond Brewing Co. out of Concord, California was entering the SLC market with a session IPA designed especially for our area. Well, it's finally here.

It looks like Hoptah Session IPA just hit grocery store shelves a few days before Christmas. I haven't tried it yet, but a few of you have. It's described as being "brewed with large amounts of Citra, Centennial, and Chinook hops, this lower-alcohol IPA doesn’t sacrifice any flavor. A full body and slight caramel sweetness balance the pleasant, resinous hop bitterness". Please share your impressions if you've tried it and where you found it.

Thanks to Quentin for the photo!

Prost!

Haven't tried it yet, but they have it in six packs and bombers at the downtown Harmons.

4% ABV isn't an IPA, Utah brewers have plenty of this brew already on shelf and tap! Time we beer drinkers get cat-piss-hoppy and demand all varieties of brew on tap despite their ABV!

"Hoptah"? I'm assuming this is a play on "Utah"? Just...no. That's not how it works.

Unless it is a play on Hop to it? With a heavy Utah accent?

I'm just confused.

But they said the 4% law protects utah brewers and that's why we should keep it! Maybe some minds will start changing soon...
Also, I'm just going to start labeling all my beers with "IPA". I used to think it stood for India pale ale, but now I know it stands for "increased purchasing action" ;)

Utah brewers are shameless for locking up the tap market like this! They should put on their big-boy pants and compete like everyone else.

Is this the "Local brewers are pulling the puppet strings of the state legislature" conspiracy theory again?
